The Director of Nursing provides leadership and oversight for Westminster’s nursing team and campus health operations. This position is responsible for supervising nursing staff, managing clinic supplies and budgets, coordinating workers’ compensation claims, and implementing wellness initiatives.
In collaboration with administrators, counselors, HR, and academic liaisons, the Director ensures the provision of responsive, high-quality healthcare for students, faculty, and staff. The role also includes direct patient care, health record management, emergency preparedness, and promoting a culture of well-being across the community.

Position Status: Salaried, exempt, full-time, 12-month (follows the Academic School Calendar)
Hours of Work: This is a full-time, year-round position. Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for a successful candidate.
Licensure & Certifications
Registered Nurse with a current Georgia nursing license, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and AED certification
Technical Skills
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Knowledge of basic computational skills and the ability to learn data entry into software systems such as Magnus Health System. Proficient use of Microsoft Office and the Google Suite. Ability to communicate using electronic mail
Ability to work independently, to maintain strict confidentiality, and to interface effectively with a diverse constituency, representing the School with integrity and professionalism
Interpersonal & Communication Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and legal documents
Ability to understand common inquiries or complaints and to clearly and effectively respond and present information to children, faculty, staff, parents, and health care providers

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide health care services to students, faculty, and staff by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities.
Clinical Care and Health Services
Establish and uphold clinical standards of care, documentation protocols, and health procedures for nursing staff to ensure consistency and quality across divisions
Provide direct nursing care to students, faculty, and staff in accordance with school protocols and nursing standards, anchoring the Pressly infirmary and covering other infirmaries as needed
Assess and treat acute and chronic health issues, including injuries and illnesses occurring during school hours
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring their effectiveness and documenting the results accordingly
Collaborate with students, families, and school personnel to support continuity of care and appropriate medical follow-up
Collaborate with Counseling and Division Administrators to support students’ holistic well-being, including identifying and responding to emotional or mental health concerns requiring interdisciplinary support
Maintain an appropriate and professional standard of care that reflects the School’s values and community expectations
Health Records and Compliance
Oversee and maintain student and employee health records using Magnus Health, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements
Monitor and manage immunization records, health forms, and physician documentation for attendance and program eligibility
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, OSHA, and CDC regulations and provides guidance to staff and administrators as needed
Develop and implement consistent protocols for medication administration, parental notification, and documentation of health services to ensure compliance and family trust
Document all nursing encounters, medication administration, and health screenings promptly and accurately in the electronic medical record system
Team Leadership and Supervision
Lead, supervise, and support the campus nursing team to ensure high standards of care and service
Coordinate staffing, schedules coverage, and delegate responsibilities effectively; assign and monitor clinic coverage based on divisional needs, staff availability, and student health trends across all divisions
Train new nurses in school health protocols and documentation systems
Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide professional development support, and mentor nurses to build a cohesive, compassionate, and effective healthcare team
Emergency Preparedness and Response
Coordinate and ensure completion of CPR, First Aid, and emergency response training for all faculty and staff; serves as the point person for campus-wide health emergency planning and drills
Respond to campus medical emergencies and provide leadership during health-related crises
Maintain emergency response equipment and ensure preparedness for injury, illness, or widespread health events
Serve as a health consultant in school safety planning and emergency drills
May be required to become a Certified CPR and First Aid Instructor
May be required to complete regular and ongoing first responder training
Administrative Duties and Collaboration
Manage clinic supply inventory, ordering, and budgeting in alignment with department needs
Serve as a liaison between nursing, administration, athletic trainers, parents, and external healthcare providers
Manage Workers’ Compensation claims and health-related accommodations for employees with the direct assistance of the Office of Human Resources
Delegate appropriate responsibilities to nursing staff while retaining accountability for overall health program compliance and performance
Attend student support and administrative meetings as appropriate, contributing to care coordination and risk management
Collaborate with school leadership to develop and update health-related school policies, including communicable disease protocols, medication administration, and health confidentiality
Contribute to long-term strategic planning related to school health initiatives, pandemic response preparedness, and student wellness goals
Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid is required.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee may occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions and frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is often loud.
Westminster is a drug-free, smoke/vape-free campus.
TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required, primarily for planned events, conferences, and professional development opportunities. Driving a Westminster vehicle may be required for this position.
