The Mobile Vascular Access Registered Nurse (RN) provides expert vascular access services to patients in a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals, outpatient facilities, long-term care facilities, and home or community-based environments. This role specializes in the insertion, maintenance, and troubleshooting of peripheral and central vascular access devices while delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a mobile setting.
Requirements
Perform ultrasound-guided and traditional vascular access procedures, including:
Peripheral IV (PIV) insertion Midline catheter insertion Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC), as applicable Assess patients for appropriate vascular access device selection based on clinical needs and vascular assessment. Utilize ultrasound technology to improve success rates and reduce patient discomfort. Maintain strict adherence to infection prevention and control standards, including CLABSI prevention protocols. Educate patients, families, and clinical staff on vascular access care, maintenance, and complication prevention. Document procedures, assessments, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR). Troubleshoot difficult vascular access cases and manage complications as they arise. Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff to coordinate care. Travel to multiple locations as scheduled to provide timely vascular access services.
Required Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the practicing state. Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with vascular access experience preferred. Demonstrated competency in peripheral IV insertion; ultrasound-guided IV experience strongly preferred. Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Preferred Certification in vascular access (e.g., VA-BC™, CRNI®, or PICC certification). Experience with midline and PICC insertion. Previous mobile, infusion, or specialty nursing experience. Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
